Walter Rossa is an architect with a Master’s degree in Art History and a PhD in Architecture. He is a full professor at the University of Coimbra. He is UNESCO Chair on the Intercultural Dialogue in Portuguese Influenced Heritage and co-supervises the corresponding PhD programme. He is one of the holders of the Cunha Rivara Chair, Goa University, and serves as an expert member in the International Committee on Historic Towns and Villages of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). He has been invited to teach and carry out research in several foreign institutions. He has worked on and overseen various national and international projects. His research work aims to promote interaction between academic activity and cooperation actions toward development.

Main interests and research topics: Architecture and Urban Planning of Portuguese Influence; Planning in a context of relevant heritage.
