José Antunes

José Antunes holds a PhD in Medieval History and is an Assistant Professor with agregação (habilitation) in the 2nd Section (Historical, Geographical and Philosophical Sciences) of the 5th Group (History) at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, from which he retired in 2000.

Main areas of interest and research topics: Medieval History of Portugal; Portuguese erudite culture in the 12th to 14th centuries (Jurists, Theologians and Philosophers); Historical problematics of the beginnings of the foundation of the Portuguese University.
