Maria Amélia Álvaro de Campos is an Assistant Professor of Medieval History (FLUC) and an integrated researcher at CHSC. She investigates urban parish communities, both secular and ecclesiastical, which enlivened the medieval city during the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries. Her research focuses on urban religiosity and spirituality, with particular attention to the commemoration of the dead and mourning. She has published studies in the fields of Palaeography and Diplomatics, analysing Portuguese medieval sources. Previously, she completed her doctoral and postdoctoral studies with competitive funding awarded by the FCT and participated in various international projects. She has collaborated with other R&D units, such as CIDEHUS (University of Évora), CRIHAM (University of Limoges), LAMOP (University of Paris 1), and LEM-CERCOR (University of Jean Monnet). She coordinated the COMMEMORtis project (http://doi.org/10.54499/EXPL/HAR-HIS/0532/2021) and currently leads CHSC’s participation in the HORIZON RESTORY consortium (https://doi.org/10.3030/101132781), coordinated by the Babes Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca. She also participates as a researcher in the DIMENOIB project, funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación in Spain, and coordinated by the University of Cantabria (PID2024-160188NB-I00).
