Duarte Manuel Freitas
Born in Câmara de Lobos (Madeira island), Duarte Manuel Freitas holds a PhD in History (awarded pre-Bologna), specialising in Museology and Cultural Heritage, from the University of Coimbra (2015). He is an assistant professor in the Department of History, Arts and Humanities of the Autonomous University of Lisbon. He works in several research units and is an integrated member of the CICH-UAL. His PhD thesis, Memorial de um complexo arquitetónico enquanto espaço museológico: Museu Machado de Castro, 1911-1965 (Memorial of an architectural complex as a museological space: the Machado de Castro Museum),was awarded the Victor de Sá Contemporary History Award (2015) and the “Best Museology Research Study” award by the APOM (2016).
