Cátia Antunes
Cátia Antunes is Full Professor of Global Economic Networks: Merchants, Entrepreneurs and Empires at the Institute for History, at Leiden University. She is particularly interested in the comparative history of empires from a global perspective. Her work has been generously supported by the European Research Council (ERC) and the Dutch Research Council. She is currently the principal investigator of the project Exploiting the Empire of Others that raises the question of transmissibility of gains and social systems across different European empires between 1415 and 1800 in an attempt to demystify the transition from colonialism to imperialism.
