António Vítor Ribeiro holds a PhD in History from the University of Coimbra. He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the FCT, for a research project on the Portuguese mystical imagination. He received a fellowship from the special administrative region of Macau’s Cultural Institute, for a research project on the Jesuit China missions. Currently, he is conducting research in the ReligionAJE project (Religion, ecclesiastical administration and justice in the Portuguese Seaborne Empire) of the University of Coimbra, funded by the FCT and focused on the establishment of post-Tridentine Christianity in the dioceses of the Portuguese Empire. He works in the Centre of Religious History Studies (CEHR-UCP).

Main interests and research topics: History of Religion; Catholic Enlightenment; History of Spirituality; Jansenism; History of Eastern Christianity; the Inquisition.
