Awarded by the The Journal of Ecclesiastical History, published by the Cambridge University Press, to Professor José Pedro de Matos Paiva (PhD). The awarded essay is titled The Impact of Luther and the Reformation in the Portuguese Seaborne Empire (to be published in April 2019). 

 

HONOURABLE MENTION IN THE ANTÓNIO DORNELAS PRIZE AWARDED BY THE MINISTRY OF SOLIDARITY, EMPLOYMENT, AND SOCIAL SECURITY – 2017

Awarded to the MA Dissertation in Contemporary History, “Ingratos” e “Desumanos”: acidentes laborais em Coimbra (1930-1935), by Mónica da Conceição Rodrigues dos Santos, Researcher at the CHSC.

CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION AWARD IN THE HISTORY OF EUROPE – 2017 

Awarded by the Portuguese Academy of History to the work História Militar de Portugal (Lisbon, Esfera dos Livros, 2017, 710 pgs.), written by Francisco Contente Domingues and João Gouveia Monteiro – who is a Full Researcher at the CHSC – under the scientific coordination of Professor Nuno Severiano Teixeira (PhD). 


 

TITLE OF HONORARY PROFESSOR OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO – 2017

In May 2017, Professor Maria José Azevedo Santos (PhD) was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro “for her fruitful academic and scientific career, as well as her vast knowledge in the fields of Palaeography and Diplomatics”. She was also made a Corresponding Member of the Technical Chamber on Palaeography and Diplomatics of Brazil’s National Council of Archives. 

 

AFONSO LOPES VIEIRA PRIZE – LEIRIA REGION  – PERSONALITY AWARD – 2016

Awarded by the weekly paper Região de Leiria, on June 17, 2016, to Professor Saul Gomes (PhD). This award honours people from Leiria for their outstanding work on behalf of the community and promotion of the Leiria region both in Portugal and abroad. It was presented at the 17thAfonso Lopes Vieira Awards Ceremony, held at the José Lúcio da Silva Theatre.

 

LUSITANIA AWARD – 2016

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to the work História da Diocese de Viseu (3 vols., Viseu, Viseu Diocese and Coimbra University Press, 2016), written under the scientific coordination of Professor José Pedro de Matos Paiva (PhD).

 

CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION AWARD IN THE HISTORY OF EUROPE – 2016 

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to the book SanGiuseppe da Copertino: dall´estrema Puglia al Portogallo (Secc. XVII-XIX) (Coimbra, Edizioni Grifo / CHSC, Lecce, 2016), by Paola Nestola (PhD).

 

APOM AWARD FOR BEST STUDY ON MUSEOLOGY – 2016 

Established by the Portuguese Association of Museology, the APOM 2016 Award for Best Study on Museology went to Duarte Manuel Roque de Freitas for his PhD dissertation, Memorial de um complexo arquitectónico enquanto espaço museológico: Museu Machado de Castro (1911-1965), 2 volumes (FLUC, 2015) (joint award).

The awarding ceremony was held on June 3, 2016, at the Money Museum, in Lisbon.

 

VICTOR DE SÁ AWARD IN CONTEMPORARY HISTORY (UNIVERSITY OF MINHO) – 2015 

Established 22 years ago by Victor Sá (PhD), it is meant to honour research work on the Contemporary History of Portugal. It was awarded to the work Memorial de um complexo arquitectónico enquanto espaço museológico: Museu Machado de Castro (1911-1965), 2 volumes (FLUC, 2015), by Duarte Manuel Roque de Freitas, a collaborator of the CHSC. This work represents the author’s PhD dissertation defended at the University of Coimbra and supervised by Professors Irene Vaquinhas (PhD) and Regina Anacleto (PhD).

 

CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION AWARD IN THE HISTORY OF EUROPE – 2015 

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to the book Guerra e Poder na Europa Medieval. Das Cruzadas à Guerra dos 100 Anos (Coimbra, Coimbra University Press 2015), coordinated by Professor João Gouveia Monteiro (PhD) with the collaboration of Miguel Gomes Martins (PhD) and Paulo Jorge Agostinho (PhD).

 

PROFESSOR JOAQUIM VERÍSSIMO SERRÃO AWARD – 2015

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to the book As regras da regra. Santa Clara. Códice do século XVI (Coimbra, Coimbra University Press 2015), by Professor Maria José Azevedo Santos (PhD).

 

CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION AWARD IN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF PORTUGAL – 2015 

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to the book A Quarta Porta do Inferno. A vigilância e disciplinamento da luxúria clerical no espaço luso-americano, 1640-1750 (Lisbon, Chiado Editora, 2015). This book essentially reproduces the author’s PhD dissertation defended at the European University Institute in Florence and supervised by Professors Bartolomé Yun Casalilla (PhD) and José Pedro Paiva (PhD).

 

LUSITANIA AWARD – 2014

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to Professors José Pedro Paiva (PhD) and Giuseppe Marcocci (PhD) for the work História da Inquisição Portuguesa (1536-1821), on December 4, 2014.

 

MEDAL OF MERIT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PENELA – 2014

Awarded by the Town Council of Penela to Professor Maria Margarida Sobral da Silva Neto (PhD). This medal honoured the “outstanding competence and remarkable dedication and commitment she has shown in the performance of her duties as coordinator of the Centre of Studies of Local and Regional History Salvador Dias Arnaut”, and was awarded during the ceremonies of the Municipality Day, on September 29, 2014, at the Noble Room of the Town Hall of Penela.

 

VICENTE FERRER AWARD – “CAREER” – 2014

Awarded by the Town Council of Lousã to Maria do Rosário Castiço Campos (PhD). This award celebrated the academic career of the Professor of ESEC and was presented during the Ceremony of the “Lausus” Awards, held at Lousã’s Movie Theatre, on June 24, 2014, the Municipality Day. The “Lausus” awards pay tribute to the merit of personalities, companies, and entities of the municipality of Lousã and, in this case, to the scientific activity and research carried out in the course of their professional career.

 

ANIMARTE AWARD IN THE RESEARCH CATEGORY – 2014

Awarded to Jaime Gouveia (PhD) by the GICAV (Group of Artistic Intervention and Creation of Viseu), which is dedicated to the cultural promotion of the Viseu District and every year pays tribute to outstanding local personalities in the most varied cultural areas. The award was presented on June 21, 2014, at the Great Hall of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu.

 

 3RDMARQUIS OF SAINT PAYO AWARD – 2013

Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to Maria Helena da Cruz Coelho (PhD) for her work O Município de Coimbra – Monumentos Fundacionais, on November 18, 2013.

 

 

LUSITANIA HISTÓRIA AWARD – 2014
Established by the Portuguese Academy of History and awarded to Doctors José Pedro Paiva and Giuseppe Marcocci for the work History of the Portuguese Inquisition (1536-1821), on the 4th of December 2014.
